Website!

After a number of years now, I have finally set up a website for myself and my photography business that I run. I have thousands of images to go through and organise a proper portfolio of my top work, but so far I have included a few of my favourite, and recent, images.

The site domain names I have bought are

www.daveitz.co.uk

and

www.itzdave.co.uk

They both link to the same page, it is nice to have both variations though as the 'itzdave' has a slight worldplay on it. When someone asks, "what is your website", I can say "itzdave.co.uk"! :)

I plan to set the photographical images into different category subsections, such as Interiors/Exteriors, People, Landscape and Product.

In the future I also hope to create a site based purely for my video work, as I vary between both media practices for work and enjoyment.

I used wix.com to create the site, a decent flash based website creator that allows a lot of control over content without having to program it yourself. It was up and running within a few hours of creating it, having linked the domain names through the process too! Awesome!

Snow

Yes. It snowed today.. and the country seems to be obsessed!

I didn't actually venture out of my house today, due to my motorbike riding during other weekdays giving me enough opportunity to be in the freezing cold - but I still got a little bit creative with capturing the snow on digital form.

I hope it does not last long, I want the summer back where I can go out in a t-shirt! Motorbike riding in sub zero temperatures would not be so bad if it were not so dark, so early in the afternoon. Car drivers just cannot see us.

69 Officer?

Well I'm not really quite sure what to make of this one, but I'm sure it will capture the minds and attention of many men up and down the country!

As a young male who has been caught speeding by the police, I'm pretty sure if I had tried the tactic displayed in the video it would have got me nowhere - if not into more trouble...

Blackberry Bold 9700 OS 6 Firmware Upgrade First Impressions + Issues + Surprises

I finally took the plunge and decided to install the leaked version of OS6 for my Blackberry Bold 9700.

First impressions, issues and surprises in my video here:

Blackberry Bold 9700 OS 6 Firmware Upgrade First Impressions + Issues + Surprises from David Itzcovitz on Vimeo.

A few things I noticed soon after making the video, and didn't include, were:

- Main menu, no longer opened with menu button, but by clicking on 'Open Tray' after clicking Menu button..
- Much faster bootup time, around 20-30 seconds.. instead of 2 minutes as previous!!
- Contact history log, in the phonebook under each contact it has a history of your contact with them.
- Tabbed browsing, hurrah!!! self explanatory, can open multiple tabs in the internet browser.
- Videos in gallery have preview thumbnails.
- Calendar icon now updates according to the actual date.
- Camera options (flash, focus, scene settings, video camera mode) all easier to access with single clicks on buttons onscreen rather than through menus.

There are probably lots more to mention but I am still discovering them.

Thanks for watching!

Eos 550D + Nunchucks = Extreme slo-mo footage :D

So, after a bit of time out from blogging I hope to make a little return.

To update the past few weeks, I have had a motorbike crash, my laptop has died, I have been paid out for motorbike repair, I have bought a new laptop, I have had to buy a new screen to work with new laptop, I bought a new digital SLR camera and I have been playing with all new things a lot!

Here's my latest little experiment.

Shot on my new Canon Eos 550d at 60fps, conformed to 23.98fps using Cinema Tools and edited in Final Cut Pro. Music is 'Stompbox' by Overseer. The 60fps footage at the end is waaaay overkill for the human eye, but is great for slow motion footage.

Awesome.

!

Awesome Carlsberg + Sky 3D + Kelly Brook (!?!!) advert!

Well.. I wish the adverts at my local cinema were this good!

A proper good example of advertising companies taking new levels. Just had to share this one :D

Car Repair - Grandma Style

Grandma says "I was just mending my car" and points to the gaffa tape. It's almost a colour match.

She's resourceful, I'll give her that :D

Homemade DIY Nunchucks

So yesterday, I was at my very good mates house who I train with at kickboxing, and finally got the chance to learn how to use nunchuks. I liked it. I liked it a lot.

Ordered some off the net last night, but decided to make my own today :D

(I'd already made them by the time I took the pics, forgot to take along the way)

Using a piece of spare hardwood we had laying about, I measured 13 inches and marked it with some elec tape

Photobucket

cut them to size using hacksaw

Photobucket

drilled in two holes near the top and one through the middle from top down

Photobucket

laced in strong shoelace and tied together!

Photobucket

sanded down so nice and flat too somewhere in between...

Photobucket

Sorted :) They feel a very nice weight (quite light) for training with for the first time, the ones I have ordered are hardwood with a metal chain (5") with handle length of 12". The ones I have made here are 13" (but still 5" shoelace chain lol)

Here is my first video:

I do not pretend to be a master or expert, I have only just learnt the basics. I havent edited the video to cut out the bad bits, obviously i make a few mistakes but I like to think I am getting the hang of it.

You can even start customising your with electrical tape, and the like.

Photobucket

Disclaimer - A quick bit about me - i've been doing Ju Jitsu since the age of 7 - 18, currently also been kickboxing for 8 months.. martial arts is what i've grown up with so i'm not just a wannabe :)

'The Crazies' - Excellent Zombie/Virus Infection Film!

I saw this film when it came out a few months ago, The Crazies is definitely a zombie/virus film to watch!! Plot is not that dissimilar to most films of the genre, small town gets a virus, infection spreads bla bla bla.. but the cast play it all out very well, whilst the visuals are not low budget either. There are some really squeemish moments.

Check out the ad here for a little taste of gore... mmm....

Well recommended! If anything, I have also learnt never to enter a carwash in a car when you are being chased by zombies :)

Contact Lens Fun

Having worn contact lenses in both my eyes since the age of 13, I am used to that extremely annoying moment whilst rubbing one eye when the lens falls out.

Sometimes it will fall directly onto your hand you are using to rub your eye. Sometimes it will fall onto your jacket. Sometimes it will even fall onto the floor.

These new lenses I have been using for the past 5 months are monthly lenses, so one pair (that's two lenses) have to last a whole month. If one is lost, that kind of messes up that month with the involvement of a brand new lens mid-month - meaning I had to find the lost lens.

Luckily I was in my bedroom in front of the mirror, and I had seen the lens fall straight out my eye in a downward motion (thank you gravity). I then spent the next 20 minutes searching the floor with my face a few inches from the carpet, with one eye closed looking for one small piece of circular clear plastic. It was not on the floor, as far as I could tell.

I searched my t-shirt, my shoulders, "has it fallen onto my socks?" I asked myself. It was nowhere to be seen (please excuse bad pun). Retracing my steps back to the very moment it had made a break for freedom from my eye, I looked at the mirror itself.

Running my hands over the mirror downwards to the bottom proved fruitless, but it was at that exact moment I noticed something very circular and very clear protruding from the mirror frame at the very bottom.

Photobucket

Hello contact lens.

Photobucket

I had found my missing optical aid hanging on for dear life. With a quick soak in the cleaning solution, it was back in its rightful place sitting on top of my cornea :)

I think I did quite well considering I performed the whole search and rescue mission with only one eye open, obviously the one with a lens in!

Old Spice Ad: MEN - Take Note.. WOMEN - Take Even Closer Note!!!

This guy is possibly the best male I have ever seen in an advert. His voice, his look and his confidence. Coming from a heterosexual male these are quite odd things to say. But just look at him!!!!

Watch below for pure advertising and production genius.

I WANT OLD SPICE. GET ME SOME.

I'M SOLD.

Because I wanna smell like a man, man.

Bowling Balls + Cars = Destruction... Urbanproof Qashqai!!

An awesome new ad for the Nissan Qashqai, with a heavy soundtrack and great visuals of automotive destruction via bouncing bowling balls. Poor demolished cars!!

Well worth a view if you're a bit sick like me and love seeing a bit of twisted metal :P

Pointless Road Signs

As the weather has been great the past few weeks, I was out with a few guys in the great British countryside on our motorbikes when I saw this. It was just a stupid sign telling us another sign wasn't in use.

That's me on the right pointing and shaking my head.

I also laughed at the ones that said 'Thank you for driving carefully'. Lol, yeah okay.

Tuborg + Music Festivals = Stan + Big Ears!

Those crazy scientists love coming up with experiments, so whilst everyone is enjoying the summer weather Dr Maruice Van Winkleton takes a voyage through the ears...

See how well your ears have developed and take the Tuborg Beat The Intro Challenge, take on Stan for a chance to win some music festival tickets!! I only got a few of those tracks.. see how you do :)

On a side note, there was some great editing in that video. No, really. Awesome stuff.

ID Badge Photos

Why is it an ID badge that allows access to one of the greatest toy shops in the world has a stupidly close photo of me on it?!

If I lose it, its £10 out my wages. If I want to change photo, its also £10.

Looks like I'm stuck with an out of proportioned head then...

'Crackdown 2' on Xbox 360

If I were not just about to enter my final year at university with a huge dissertation to do, I would probably be going out right now to buy an Xbox 360 and subscribe to Xbox Live.. just for this game.

Looks like a right royal bloodbath. Oh I miss being young and in front of the television for hours with mind-numbing violence...

'Crackdown 2' is out 9th July!

'The Collector' Awesome New Trailer/Game For Upcoming Film!

A new thriller film called 'The Collector' will be coming out later this month, and a great interactive game/trailer internet app has been released for everyone to play!

The trailer puts a nice twist on the 'breaking and entering' theme that is so often in films of today, where the thief realises he is being stalked in someone else's house. The interactive game allows you to try and escape too with dire consequences if you go wrong, nice graphic sequences :)

"You're a thief who's just broken into an empty house... But you are not alone. Someone is wreaking terror on the people who live there and is now after you. He is The Collector and has transformed the house into a maze of lethal traps.
Choose a route through the maze and unlock and EXCLUSIVE clip. Beware though, a wrong turn will lead to a grisly end!"

It's from the director of the latest 'Saw' films, so its well worth a go!

Things You Know You Should Throw Out... But Can't

There are probably loads of things in your house that you have collected over the years, bought or given to you, that just cannot be thrown out - regardless of age or condition.

Today I found one such item in our garage, gathering dust right at the top of a lot of other stuff we have stored up on the rafters. It is a Mitsubishi television that we have owned for roughly 20 years, used by my grandma when she lived with us, by my parents and by myself in various bedrooms/rooms. It has a cool feature of the remote slotting into the front of the frame for storage, and it still gets excellent picture when and aerial is plugged into it. It even takes quite well to having a PlayStation or N64 (yes I found that too!!) connected up to it.

Photobucket

It is now set up in our garage for now - watching some daytime television whilst clearing out other rubbish is actually quite enjoyable. I'll probably move it back into my room soon, after a few years lapse :)

Viral Video Chart - The Best Viral Videos On The Internet!

Went to the re-launch party of the new Viral Video Chart last night from Unruly Media, where the new design of their chart was revealed along with a screening of some of the greatest Internet videos ever!! We have all spent hours clicking from one YouTube video to the next... don't pretend you haven't :)

The past 10 years has really opened the Internet up to social media, with Facebook and blogs allowing shared content over many other platforms. A nice presentation was given by someone from Contagious Magazine, as well as other interesting Internet statistics ( it was something silly like it would take 912 years to watch all content on YouTube!?!?!?!)

Here is the link to the chart if you fancy spending some quality time over the nets greatest virals. It has different categories and other stats about the videos on there too! A great time killer, as well as a useful trend viewer.

Just try not to get rickroll'd!! Enjoy :)

Spinning Streak - Addictive new iPhone game!!

Photobucket

I still check out iPhone apps and games now and again for a bit of fun, even though I predominantly use my Blackberry as my method of communication, but this one has caught my eye as an addictive (and of course, time-wasting) game.
Photobucket

It's called Spinning Streak, by Mad Media Labs. The main aim is hone your skills and balance to keep the spinners up as long as possible to become the best in the world!! Have a local competition between you and your friends to see who can be the best spinner, all from a bit of pocket sized fun :)

It features a storyline, as well as high-scores against other people playing on their phones around the world so you can compete globally. With great, colourful illustrations this game cannot get better. Wait.. yes it can... it's free!! yep, can't get better value than that! :D

You can find out more info, as well as download the app for iPhone right here: http://itunes.apple.com/app/spinningstreak/id371286642

Photobucket

Perhaps this might be an insight into your own life about balancing things out to make it to the top.. either way, Happy Spinning!!

Tango!

A bit of a weird advert from Tango, as always! Gotta love that Colin, the main character, is a redhead :) Nice bit of D'n'B in there too!

Film yourself dancing through your inner spirit to the track and win music festival tickets!

Download the "Praise" by Lomax track for free and more info @ Tango

Rage Against The Machine @ Finsbury Park

To celebrate their win over the X-Factor xmas number 1, RATM promised their fans a free gig, to which I was lucky enough to win tickets! :D

With my mini camera I got a bit of footage of the gig, but was mainly just enoying myself. It got a bit crazy at one point where I found myself in the middle of a moshpit that had just opened up around me. Not cool!

The bass (as you can hear) was a bit intense due to being so close!! But oh so worth it :)

All The Mobile Phones I Have Ever Owned

Back in the beginning of the new millennium, I was starting secondary school, with the right of passage being marked in the purchase of a mobile phone.. *ta daaaaaa*

They were the beginning of the communicative era for us, the Gen-Y youth growing up in a developing (very fast) technological world to further social practices. Text messaging during class, prank phone calls to companies at break time wasting all your credit. I'm sure you will remember Snake. I'm so glad that people have stopped using TMB at the end of a message, it was very pressuring!

The phones themselves have gone from being used for calls and texts to emails, facebook alerts, calendars, mp3 players, cameras and even platforms for viewing pornographic.. err I mean high resolution Hollywood films.

And who can forget those classic nokia ringtones? Oh the days... Well here is my reminiscent timeline of all the phones I have owned, to this present day. I do love a bit of technology.

I'm not going to review every single one... some were good, some bad, but mostly good. Who knows what's next!?

Beautiful Summer Weather

It is at this point of the year that every man and his dog becomes a cyclist/moped rider/motobiker.

The vast majority cannot ride due to being stuck in a car the rest of the year. I have seen more crash scenes by the side of the road in the past few weeks than I did in a year of commuting 40 miles a day.

I do love being around more bikers on the road, don't get me wrong... Although I look forward to being a lone ranger again in the cold winter days :)

Israel + Flotilla = International Mess

In no way do I pretend to be an expert on any international laws or such-like.. but why can't the world see that the so called 'aid' was just a ploy to play up to the media.

If 'aid' and 'humanitarianism' was wanted, there wouldn't be suicide bombings now, would there?

Israel ftw.

Bad Drivers

Being a driver in four wheels and a rider on two - I trust in my observational skills that keep me alive when I am out on the road...

but how responsible can you be for other drivers!?

Just one of the many people in the world who are a danger to themselves and to others around them. The way I see it, is that if you cannot control your car for a basic parking manouver then I would not want to be around when a high-pressure automotive situation occurs.

Having said that, it is frustratingly comical (I found myself almost shouting at the screen with the correct wheel turning instructions!)

Diesel - Be Stupid!

Diesel have decided that when someone says 'Don't be stupid', what they really mean is 'Dont have fun!!!'

Get a stupid photo of a friend and be a star of Picadilly Circus :)

How sweet; baby swans are grey and become whiter as they mature.

They look so fluffy, aww.

The Musical Tube

Sitting on the tube right now. 8 out of 10 people around me have earphones in plugged into mp3 players or phones (me included).
I like to imagine 70 years ago there being a gramophone in the corner of the old trains where everyone had to fight over it to decide what music was playing.
We really are a wired generation...

Photo Editing - What A Fun Thing To Do On A Saturday Night!

The weekend begins with a nice little photo editing job I am doing for a good friend, on the promotional shots of a product he hopes to be introducing to the student market! It is a large bag that contains all the basic equipment for a student making the transition from home to university (kitchenware, bedroom stuff etc).

I have done some shots for him myself...

and now I have more photos of the updated prototype to edit.

For anyone starting university soon without a clue where to start buying all kitchen cutlery, bed linen, study equipment - have a look at Uni Sak!! It doubles up as a dirty laundry bag once empty too :)

And so I continue with my editing... narrowed down 397 raw shots to the 62 best!!
Thank goodness for the creation of music to aid the monotony of photograph level/colour correction.

Annoyance Of The Week

This is why I hate Windows OS.

Photobucket

Then it tried to tell me that 'Windows Explorer.exe has a virus and is being blocked by Windows Firewall'.

Oh great, Windows is blocking itself.

Photobucket

Clicking 'Yes' caused The Blue Screen Of Death (see first image above), clicking 'No' resulted in another security dialogue appearing (see second image above for infinite amount of alerts).

Pfft.

Test mobile upload!

And here is me testing the email mobile upload feature of this blog, with a delightful picture of my Honda Hornet 600.

This is being sent from my Blackberry Bold 9700, I'm sure my old iPhone could do the same, but at least I get a lot less spelling errors!!

Let's see if this works..

------------------

EDIT: It does work!! :D

Gotta love when technology actually does what you want it to. I feel a strong sense that many more blog posts will be sent from my phone... many thoughts or discoveries I come across on a daily basis are when I'm nowhere near a computer.

A lot of my thinking time comes when I'm riding my motorbike (see above!), many revelations or humourous thoughts come to mind during this time.

Adopt Everything - First!

First!!!

Isn't that the usual comment on an fresh, unadulterated piece of internet meat? I believe it is, yes.

Well this is my blog which I hope to update regularly, after seeing many other people doing the same this is now my chance to put my thoughts onto the digital realm of the Internet.

I hope to post my thoughts on all things I find out an about that are interesting, thought-provoking, humourous or just stupid (in a good way, of course).

The name of the blog - Adopt Everything - comes from my own existence in this world. This will be further explained in future writings :)

thanks for stopping by!

Dave
